Council's community
food service (also known as 'Meals On Wheels') provides a variety of
options for local residents who are not able to prepare meals at home,
either temporarily or permanently.

Elderly and frail residents, those with a
disability, and their carers are eligible to receive the meal service.
To arrange the meal service, call 9502
3198 or 9562 1629 to discuss your eligibility and requirements. If you
are unable to call personally, a family member, friend, neighbour,
local doctor, hospital staff member or representative from a Community
Service can make this call on your behalf.
The Rockdale Meal Service operates
throughout the Rockdale City Council local government area. If you
are not sure whether your home is in this local government area, call
9502 3198 or 9562 1629 to check. If necessary, Rockdale Meal Service
can put you in contact with a meal service closer to you.
- Meals are delivered between
9am-10:30am for chilled meals and 11am-12pm for hot meals every day.
- Weekend and bulk frozen meals are
delivered once a fortnight.
- Meals can be cancelled when 24hrs
notice is given.
- Alternatively, you can arrange for
meals to be left with a friend or neighbour, or you can have two meals
delivered the day before.
- To cancel or change the arrangements
for a delivery, call 9502 3198 or 9562 1629 before 10am on the day.

Clients are welcome to come along and
meet new friends at our social lunches and morning teas, which are held
every month.
Many clients have different dietary
needs, due to medical, cultural or religious reasons. Clients should be
rest assured that Rockdale Meal Service has the experience and
expertise to cater for the needs of all residents.
- If you have trouble with language a
translator can be arranged
- If you need to resolve a problem but
are not comfortable asking for help yourself, an advocate can be
arranged to speak on your behalf.
The service is funded by the State and
Federal Governments through Home & Community Care. At a state
level, money for the service is distributed by the Department of Aging
and Disability Home Care.
Rockdale Meal Service always welcomes volunteers who can spare
some time during the day to help us and our clients.
