Council Projects

Destinations Rockdale was undertaken as a visionary planning exercise to give Rockdale’s citizens and visitors a better future – better access to Rockdale’s culture and features; more jobs and revitalised retail, commercial and residential contexts; a new civic centre with pool, gyms, halls and library; and a Canal and boulevard culture. It was approved by Council for public release in September 2005 and the Council then engaged the community in an open manner – with over 23,000 brochures and DVDs delivered to affected property owners and residents, together with community newsletters, the website and stories and columns in the St George Leader.

This is a living strategy - and each element of the scheme is subject to ongoing discussion and refinement.

The subsequent reports on community feedback, planning background research and approved planning principles are all viewable and downloadable here. Also there is an accurate representation of the F6 replacement ‘local road’ which was strongly supported in the community feedback period.
