Food 'n' Groove

Food 'n' Groove, a celebration of world music, food and dance, will be held at Bexley Park on Saturday 26 October 2013.

This free, family event will start at 11am and runs until 5pm. Bring a blanket and the family for a great day of live music and dance, kid's rides, vintage cars, market stalls and mouth-watering global cuisine. A portion of the kids' rides proceeds will be donated to charity.

Note that due to Council regulations, Bexley Park will be dog-free and alcohol-free.

The Foodies
Food 'n' Groove includes information and demonstrations based on local and home-grown sustainable food options.

Fork N Knife will be serving up exciting food demonstrations and workshops.

Food Poetry
The event will be displaying local poet, Margaret Ruckert's Food Poetry on the day for everyone to read. Margaret will be at the event with her Food Poetry books.

A variety of cultural cusines will be on offer, including organic delights.

The Groovers
The event - designed to showcase the cultural diversity of Rockdale City - features a variety of live entertainment.

My Sauce Good is labelled as 'Continental Boogie' or 'International Swing'. They are fun, flavoursome and stylish with a cheeky edge.

The horns and drum street band sounds of Hot Potato will bring New Orleans to Bexley. From 1920's to today's top hits the band will sure to put a smile on your face.

Chasing the Moon are a gypsy jazz band with a mix of hot club, with the blues and a touch of folk and latin rhythms.

The Brazilian Fantasy Productions Show directed by Marcos Moran, incorporates Brazilian martial art, acrobatics, music and dance known as Capoeira.

Salsa Kingz will bring the party to Food 'n' Groove providing a classic selection of tunes with a Latin flare that everybody can dance to.

Working Towards Sustainability
Bring your own reusable water bottle and try out the free,water refill station - note that bottled water will not be available for purchase at the event.

Supporting the Community
Visitors are also encouraged to bring a can of non-perishable food to donate to the Bay City Care community food collection program.

Getting There
Rockdale City Council encourages the public to walk, ride or bus to the event. Bike parking is available at Bexley Park.

Closest train stations are Bexley North (East Hills Line) and Rockdale (Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra Line). Buses are the 493 (Roselands, Kingsgrove, Bexley, Rockdale) and 495 (Bexley, Kingsgrove).

The event is aligned with the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Month.
