Fun Run
Entry Fee Required

Council runs this event annually in association with the St George Athletics Club Inc. The event consists of a 5km Fun Run/walk and a 1km Fun Run/walk at Peter Depena Reserve, Dolls Point along the Botany Bay foreshore. Funds raised from the Fun Run are donated to the Knights of St George Association for the St George Hospital Cardiac Surgery Unit.

Each year the local community has the opportunity to nominate businesses within the Rockdale Local Government Area (LGA) that deserve to be rewarded and recognised for achieving excellence in business, customer service, overall presentation and initiative. The 2011 Awards Ceremony was held at the Grand Roxy in Brighton Le Sands.


Food ‘n’ Groove
Free Event

Food ‘n’ Groove is held at Bexley Oval on Stoney Creek Road, Bexley featuring a celebration of music, food and dance from around the world. In 2011, the entertainment featured a variety of cultures and styles including Brazilian, Bollywood, Folk, Indigenous, Zydeco, Tribal Belly Dance, Bossa Nova, Polynesian and Afro-Colombian. Enjoy live music, interactive dance, global cuisine, market stalls and kids’ rides. Food ‘n’ Groove also featured sustainable food, information and demonstrations. 2011’s Food 'n' Groove also aligned itself to be a part of the month-long Crave Sydney International Food Festival, presented by Citibank. Bring a blanket and the family for a spectacular afternoon of colour, movement and festivities.


Carols by the Sea
Free Event

Enjoy Christmas under the stars at the beautiful beach side setting of Brighton Le Sands at Lady Robinsons Beach. This fun family event includes entertainment from local performers and church groups, a special guest appearance by Santa and the official lighting of the Christmas tree by the Mayor.


New Year’s Eve Fireworks
Free Event

Celebrate the eve of the New Year by the picturesque beachfront stretching from Kyeemagh to Ramsgate. A spectacular fireworks display will set the night alight by the bay at Brighton Le Sands. To get the best view head to Lady Robinsons Beach and watch the amazing fireworks explode in the sky at 9pm.


Australia Day
Free Event

On the shores of Botany Bay this iconic celebration takes place at Peter Depena Reserve - Russell Avenue, Dolls Point. The day consists of a Flagraising, Citizenship Ceremony and Rockdale Citizens of the Year Presentations, a traditional Welcome to Country, family entertainment including face painting and a community sausage sizzle.
