From time to time, Council receives a request to hold a Civic Ceremony to recognise an official day of of cultural significance for a Country of Origin. On the shores of Botany Bay this iconic celebration takes place at Depena Reserve - Russell Avenue, Dolls Point. The day consists of a Flag raising, Citizenship Ceremony and Bayside Citizens of the Year Presentations, a traditional Welcome to Country, family entertainment including face painting and a community sausage sizzle.
Don Burke OAM will be Bayside Council's Australia Day Ambassador.
Celebrate the Year of the Rooster with Asian themed stalls, dining, entertainment and a lion dance.
Activities include calligraphy workshops, lucky wishes writing, face painting, lantern making and riddles, Chinese and Asian cuisine, traditional costumes, lion dances as well as main stage entertainment by local dance groups, musicians and martial artists.
The Rockdale Arts Festival (RAF) is a program of arts initiatives, activities and events across the City annually in March/April. Details to follow - get ready to participate!

The Rockdale City Community Fun Run/Walk has been renamed The Albie Thomas Rockdale Fun Run, in honour of Albie's contribution to this event.
Council runs this event annually in association with the St George Athletics Club Inc. The event consists of a 2km and a 5km Fun Run/Walk along the Botany Bay foreshore. Funds raised from the Fun Run are donated to the Knights of St George Association for the St George Hospital Cardiac Surgery Unit.
Thank you everyone that participated in this event and helped raise funds for such a deserving cause.

Free Event at Firth Street, Arncliffe
Immerse yourself in local culture and culinary delights while buskers bring Firth Street to life!
This street side festival will be held in Firth Street, Arncliffe from 12 noon until 4pm on Saturday 16 July 2016. The family friendly event will feature roving musicians and entertainers, community workshops and information stalls as well as trike rides, face painting, psychic readings and more! The festival will be held on the footpath and indoors via participating businesses, allowing Firth Street to remain open to traffic during the event.
During this event, Council Officers will be present looking for local residents and businesses to Have Their Say regarding improvements to the Arncliffe Town Centre, as part of Council's Thriving Town Centres Program. Come and say G'day at Council's Information Stand just outside IGA Arncliffe if you have a spare 5 minutes to answer a quick survey which will help inform a Concept Plan for the Arncliffe Town Centre.

Free Event at King Street Place, Rockdale
Featuring the official lighting of the Christmas Tree by the Mayor at 8pm. This fun family event will include a Santa meet and greet, live entertainment, a petting zoo, face painting, Christmas crafts and more!
Stall holder applications are now open for this event which can be considered an excellent opportunity to sell your products, promote your business and connect with the community. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
Applications close at 5pm on Friday 2 September 2016 or prior if full. Your application will be reviewed by the Event Panel who will notify you of the decision in writing by Monday 19 September 2016.
Stalls with a Christmas theme will be given preference. Public Liability is required by all stallholders. A Working With Children check may also be required in some instances.
Due to the proximity of pre-existing hospitality establishments, stalls selling food or beverages will not be able to participate in Christmas in Rockdale 2016.

Enjoy Christmas under the stars at the beautiful beach side setting of Brighton Le Sands at Lady Robinsons Beach. This fun family event will be hosted by the incomparable Monica Trapaga includes entertainment from local performers and church groups and a special guest appearance by Santa.
Celebrate the eve of the New Year by the picturesque beachfront stretching from Kyeemagh to Ramsgate. A spectacular fireworks display will set the night alight by the bay at Brighton Le Sands. To get the best view, head to Lady Robinsons Beach and watch the amazing fireworks explode in the sky at 9pm.

Rockdale City Council conducts Citizenship Ceremonies approximately every two months for Rockdale City residents. The Ceremony formally welcomes new citizens.
