Sydney Dogs and Cats Home Inaugural Puppy Picnic
Date:
Saturday 22 November
Location:
Sydney Park - Cnr Euston and Campbell Road, St Peters
Time:
10am-2pm
Access for people with disabilities:
Yes
Information:
Get your pooches ready, and clear your calendar for Sydney Dogs and Cats Home Inaugural Puppy Picnic.

Saturday 22 November will mark the first family day to be hosted by the Home which will see current canine residents and ex-alumni join together at Sydney Park for a day that celebrates adoption and highlights the joys of taking a second chance pet into your family.

With market stands, entertainment, face-painting, puppy kissing booth, food vans, Pooch Santa Photo’s, free vet advice and animals looking for new homes available for adoption on the day - the Puppy Picnic is set to be a great event for the whole family.

Sydney Dogs and Cats Home Ambassador, Mr Sam Mac will be leading the charge as MC on the day, and is looking forward to seeing the Sydney Dogs and Cats Home alumni out in force.

"Inviting back all of the dogs that have been adopted over the years from the Home is a great initiative and will really highlight the wonderful work this organisation does in giving second chances. They've given so many second chances over the year it really will seem as though rescue dogs have taken over the park!"

"The Home has given a second chance to over 4,000 dogs during the course of the last 15 years alone, so even if only a fraction can make it on the day, we will still be looking at having a veritable doggy paradise 'pop-up' in Sydney Park."

"Sydney Dogs and Cats Home prides itself on not placing a time limit on how long any adoptable animal can stay in their care, meaning many animals that arrive at the Home through no fault of their own, really do get that second chance at life, and that's why I'm really passionate about my role as a 'Sambassador' which is a very clever wordplay." Mr Mac said.

The Puppy Picnic is a day to recognise all of the wonderful supporters, volunteers, donors and adopters from the Home, but also gives the community a chance to come together in a day that sees rescue dogs take centre stage.

"Every animal deserves a loving home and that's why I'm honoured to an ambassador for an organisation who are only happy, when the animals are happy." - Sam Mac

Migratory birds from as far away as Siberia visit Landing Lights during the warmer months to feed and fatten up before returning to the Northern Hemisphere to breed. The wetland also provides potential habitat to a number of threatened Australian coastal bird species.

Local bird experts will be on hand at this breakfast to point out the various species and tell the amazing migration story of birds who visit the local area. There will also be the opportunity to plants some native plants to help Council restore and protect this significant spot.

While we'll have a couple of scopes set up for viewing, you will have a much better experience if you can bring your own set of binoculars as well.
