Rate payers who hold a current year's Pensioner Concession Card (issued by Centrelink or the Department of Veteran Affairs) are eligible for a rate rebate. The full rebate of $250 applies if you owned your property and were a pensioner prior to July 1of the current year.
The rebate is reduced proportionately on a quarterly pro rata entitlement if you purchased the property or became a pensioner on or after July 1 of the current year.
You can apply for this rebate by bringing your current Pensioner Concession Card into Council's Customer Service Centre at 2 Bryant St, Rockdale.
If You are Having Difficulty Making a Payment
Council usually gives a seven-day grace period after the due date for you to make your payment before adding an interest penalty. After seven days, Council can extend the due date, however interest will be charged.
If you fall behind by two instalments, you must advise Council in writing (within seven days) of how and when you intend to bring your account up to date. Special arrangements can be made for residents in the event of extreme financial hardship.
