Assessment of Development Applications

Once you lodge a Development Application (or DA) with Rockdale City Council, it follows a set of assessment processes.

DAs are assessed using Section 79C of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, 1979. In determining an Application, Council takes into consideration:

  • The provisions of relevant planning instruments and codes
  • The likely impacts of the development
  • The suitability of the site
  • Any submissions received
  • The public interest

If your proposal is an Integrated Development, where the approval of another authority such as the Heritage Council or the Roads and Traffic Authority is also required, Council will refer your application to that authority on your behalf.

When lodging a DA for an Integrated Development, you must include an extra set of drawings and, if applicable, a Heritage Impact Statement. Additional fees are also required.
