Online Databases

Following is a list of electronic databases accessible at Rockdale City Library. Library members can also access the databases marked * from home. If applicable, please select 'Rockdale' from the pulldown list of available libraries.


Academic Search Premier * contains an impressive collection of publications covering the fields of biology, chemistry, engineering, law, mathematics, music, physics, psychology, religion & philosophy, science & technology, veterinary science, women's studies, and more


ANZ Reference Centre * is a general database of Australian and international content with articles in health, current affairs, science, social science, business and literature


Consumer Health Complete * contains full text articles covering all areas of health and wellness from mainstream medicine to many perspectives of complementary, holistic and integrated medicine. Material contained in this database is intended for informational purposes only


GreenFILE * offers a unique perspective on the positive and negative ways humans affect the environment. Drawing on the connection between the environment and disciplines such as agriculture, education, law, health and technology, GreenFILE serves as an informative resource for anyone concerned about the issues facing our planet


Literary Reference Center Plus * provides full text information on authors and their works from a combination of sources including books, encyclopaedias and journals. Includes plot summaries, critical essays, reviews, poems, short stories, author biographies and full text classic novels


MasterFILE Complete * database provides full text for more than 2,100 general reference publications with full text information dating as far back as 1975. Covering virtually every subject area of general interest, MasterFILE Complete also includes biographies, primary source documents, full text books, magazines and journals and an image collection of photos, maps and flags


NoveList Plus * provides information on over 250,000 fiction and readable nonfiction titles included, plus feature content including lists of award-winning books, Book Discussion Guides, BookTalks, Recommended Reads and more


Australia/New Zealand Points of View Reference Centre is a full-text database designed to provide students with a series of essays that present multiple sides of a current issue. Topics covered include: abortion, animal experimentation, climate change, cloning, freedom of speech, gay marriage, globalisation, green consumerism, nuclear energy, population growth, renewable energy, services for indigenous peoples, stem cell research, and worldwide oil supplies


Science Reference Center * is an in-depth, curriculum-oriented science database that provides a one-stop resource for all science-related research needs


History Reference Center offers full text from more than 1,620 reference books, encyclopedias and non-fiction books, cover to cover full text for more than 150 leading history periodicals, nearly 57,000 historical documents, more than 78,000 biographies of historical figures, more than 113,000 historical photos and maps, and more than 80 hours of historical video


Hobbies & Crafts Reference Centre provides comprehensive full text content for many of the most popular hobbies, crafts and recreation activities today. Including full text for more than 500 magazines and books, as well as access to 333 videos and 144 hobby reports, this database offers detailed 'how-to' instructions and creative ideas to meet the interests of virtually every hobby-enthusiast. The database features extensive information on over 140 topics


This collection from EBSCO eBooks offers full text titles with unlimited access designed specifically for public libraries. Featuring fiction and nonfiction titles for adults and juveniles as well as containing a wide range of subjects and topics to meet patron’s research and recreational needs

World Book Advanced *
More than 1.3 million pages of primary source documents–books, documents, selections - fully integrated with the encyclopaedia content. Research and teaching tools include timelines, citation builder, and saved research.
