Rockdale Library and Community Information Service provides an extensive Community Language Collection in Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Greek and Macedonian.
Our Community Language Collection consists of books, CDs, DVDs, magazines and newspapers, and talking books for both adults and children.

If you are looking for books in a language which we do not have, our friendly staff are happy to arrange boxes of books in your own language for you from the State Library of New South Wales. This Bulk Loan Service is provided to you free of charge.
- Books in 42 community languages
- Talking books in a number of community languages
- Large print books in a number of community languages
- A collection of material for learning English as a second language
- Our friendly staff will help you to fill in a request form for a box of books in your own language
- We then request the books from the State Library of NSW
- We will contact you when we receive the books from the State Library
- You may request and borrow books in your own language from your local branch library
For people who wish to improve their English skills we have a collection of material for learning English as a second language.
This collection includes books, CDs, CD-ROMs, DVDs and talking books in graded levels. There are many bilingual books and audio-visual kits in your own language and English to help you learn English.
The English Literacy Collection is held at Arncliffe, Bexley, Bexley North, Rockdale and Sans Souci branch libraries.
We also have a wide range of books and audio-visual kits in other languages. This collection includes books, CDs, CD-ROMs and DVDs. People who are interested in learning languages other than English will find this collection most useful.
