Parking survey in Washington Street, Bexley

Council is in receipt of a request to review the existing "No Stopping" zone outside number 2 Washington Street, Bexley to improve the safety of traffic flow as well as parked vehicles.

Site investigations have revealed that cars parked near the bend immediately west of the "No Stopping" zone may cause difficulty for the passing two-way traffic.

Council proposes to extend the existing "No Stopping" zone by 9m outside property number 2 (as per this plan). Council would like to seek your opinion on the matter as the proposal is situated along the side of your property and/or affects you.

Parking survey in Clareville Avenue, Sandringham

Council are conducting a parking survey in Clareville Avenue, Sandringham (along the shop frontage on the western side only) and would like to have your input. The parking survey will assist Council to develop a better parking scheme to meet the needs of most of the local residents and businesses in this area and to also optimise the usage of kerb side parking.

One Way Lane Proposal for Chapel Lane

Council has received a request to convert Chapel Lane into a one way street from a local organisation. Council is currently canvassing the affected residents, business owners and organisations to seek their opinions on the proposal.

One Way Traffic Proposal in Sybil Lane

Council had recently sent out survey forms to residents of Sybil Lane and Crawford Road to seek their opinion on the proposed one-way traffic arrangement in Sybil Lane between O’Neill Street and Crawford Road.

The one way arrangement has been proposed to improve traffic flow and safety in Sybil Lane and Crawford Road, following a recently received request to investigate the safety of pedestrians and motorists around Brighton Le Sands Public School, north of Sybil Lane.

Proposed Loading Zone in King Lane, Rockdale

There has been a request for the provision of a Loading Zone during Mon-Fri 6am to 11am in King Lane between King Street Place and Crofts Lane. Please refer to the plan for the proposed location of the loading zone. The proposal does not include any suggestion of a loading zone on Princess Highway between King Street and Bay Street.

The existing parking in the street will not be affected. However, the existing 'No Stopping' zone is proposed to be converted to a loading zone which will be 18m in length.

The current parking restrictions will apply outside the loading zone times. Only those vehicles, allowed to use loading zone can park in the loading zone. Vehicles can be parked in a loading zone for a maximum of 30 minutes while loading/unloading activities are undertaken. Cars or other vehicles that may be used for delivery purposes but are not classified as delivery vehicles, cannot legally park in a loading zone.

If you wish to raise an objection or support the above proposal, please complete the survey and return it to Council.

Please be aware that due to the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 1989, Council is not able to guarantee the privacy of any written submission. Your input will help us to develop a better parking scheme in this area.


Walters Street, Arncliffe - Proposed Speed Humps

Notice is hereby given that Rockdale City Council will be installing two (2) speed humps in Walters Street between Hirst Street and Wollongong Road to improve general safety and amenity in the area.

Road works will commence in October 2010 for a period of one (1) week. During this time there will be traffic delays and Council apologies for any inconvenience. For further information please contact Traffic & Road Safety Section on 9562 1666.

Devon Road, Bardwell Park - Proposed Speed Humps and Pram Ramps

In order to assist pedestrians crossing Devon Road, Rockdale City Council is proposing to install two speed humps to slow down traffic.

Rockdale City Council is seeking support for a 2 hour parking permit scheme at the above locations.

Proposed Shared Zone - Crewe Lane, Bardwell Park

Rockdale City Council is proposing the installation of a Shared Zone in Crewe Lane.

A Shared Zone is a network of roads in an area in which pedestrians and motor vehicles share the road space. Drivers must not exceed a speed of 10 km/h and must give way to pedestrians at all times. 

To help improve road safety, Rockdale City Council is proposing the installation of a Shared Zone in Crewe Lane.

Proposed Restriction - Left In and Left Out Only

Council has received a request for a restriction at the intersection of Eve Street at West Botany Street, Arncliffe. Council now seeks public comments on the attached survey by 13 April 2010.

Council is proposing to upgrade Bay Street Precinct by closing Trafalgar Street at Bay Street, Brighton Le Sands to vehicular traffic.

Right Turn Restrictions in Bay Street, Brighton Le Sands - Summer Weekend Nights

'No Right Turn' restrictions from Bay Street into The Grand Parade, Brighton Le Sands will be in place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings between the hours of 8pm and 5am, until Monday 5 April.

Alternate routes are available via Moate Avenue, Bestic Street and Crawford Road. For more information, phone Council's Traffic and Road Safety department on 9562 1666.

We are currently conducting a Local Area Traffic Management Study (LATMS) in Bardwell Valley bounded by Forest Rd, Bexley Rd, Darley Rd, John Street, Fripp Street, Wollongong Road. We are seeking local residents' opinion to assist Council in developing an effective traffic management scheme. This study is to recommend solutions to local traffic problem in this area.

The proposal is aimed at eliminating the intrusion of heavy and long vehicles in a part of Watkin Street which is a residential street, and to improve general safety and amenity in the area.

Residents' Parking Survey - Gertrude Street, Wolli Creek

Council is currently conducting a parking survey seeking opinions from local residents and business people in Gertrude Street, Wolli Creek between the Princes Highway and Levey Street regarding a proposed 2 hour parking limit "2P, 8:30am-6pm, MON-SAT" restriction. The proposal is aimed at eliminating the current unrestricted parking and to increase the parking turnover for the benefit of patrons and visitors to the adjoining businesses and facilities.
